Weekend Fun Ahead

This weekend is a very busy one.
We shall be travelling up to Birmingham on Friday afternoon to spend a couple of nights with Paul's Mom. It is Mothers Day on Sunday after all, and I seem to have managed to be ill on the last 2 occasions that we were supposed to go up to see her.... not on purpose of course!
It is also my Godson, Dylan's 1st birthday on Saturday, and Kelly has asked us to come over to see them for his birthday.
It will be a fun packed weekend, and despite having to take a knockout tablet to be able to get in the car (long story, involving and accident many moons ago, and a terrible fear of passengering in a car on a journey) I am really looking forward to seeing Mom and my friends.
Fred is all excited too - he will be having his Teddy and his Bear packed, so that his Nanny can see him being a good boy playing with them....
Role on Friday and to be able to have a Mommy hug xx

Symbolism

10 years ago last September was the anniversary of my third, and so far final. attempt at being a mom. It ended in an ectopic pregnancy.
Needless to say, we were both completely torn apart by what had happened. Then someone said that all children that did not quite make it into this world should be thought of a butterflies. Beautiful, silent, and watching over us from the skies.
With this in mind, Paul bought me a swarkowski crystal butterfly. Very extravagant, but something we both needed to remind us of our little boy (I had decided, it was a boy very early on, who knows why!)
Anyway, a few weeks after the anniversary, I was dusting, and the butterfly came apart in my hands.
I placed it back onto the mantle piece, and let it rest there until I felt able to work on the repairs it needed.
Today was that day.
All four wings had come away, but with remarkably steady hands, I began to piece it back together again....

First one side....
And then the other.....

And finally he was all in one piece once more

Since we have had our little crystal butterfly, there has been a real butterfly turn up, in the chapel on 3 separate occasions, when we have attended family funerals. At my Grampi, my Nan and my Dad's funerals.

Each time the butterfly has fluttered inside the bay window just behind the coffin, before making it's way back outside.....

Now there is food for thought.

Mission Impossibe

About an hour ago I got a text asking what time we were getting to the tide race. What blinking tide race I said!
Anyway the object of the game is to built a sand castle and stand on top of it as the tide laps up to it. The last team still above water wins!

As the sand piles got higher, so did every ones spirits.

And as the water gets closer they all hang on to each other for dear life and hope for the best!

Paul and I got our toes out and wet - amazing!

Yes I know I'm not dressed for it, but I had only just found out about the race and we'd just driven at full speed (within the law of course) from Falmouth!

PARTY! Well Fake Party Anyway....

This year is a big birthday for Sally-Ann. But not until November! As her boys and grandchildren were here on holiday it was decided an early Birthday party was in order.
Jamie and Phil did all of the organising and laid out the food.

Mike and Pam sat and enjoyed eating it...

Ozzie was bored by everything....

Phil played chief chef and florist....

and the kids stood on and cheered their Nanna.
Happy Non Birthday!

Sunny Sunday

Amazingly today dawned bright and breezy considering it was a Bank Holiday Sunday.
Unfortunately I don't have the benefit of taking tomorrow off work as, in our industry there are no Bank Holidays, barring Christmas Day and Boxing Day, that are conformed with. Business as usual sort of thing!
All the more reason I was glad of nice weather - it means a day out with friends and family.
We had originally planned to go to a working farm show in Marazion, the plan being to win the novelty dog show between Fred, Hamish and Ozzie, however after driving around for 2 hours we gave up trying to find it, only to finally get someone to answer the contact telephone number and find it was cancelled!
Plan B was to go up to Godrevy and walk the dogs and eat our picnic on the cliff top. Well done for that suggestion Jamie, it turned out great....
We saw 6 or 7 seals swimming in the bay and sunning themselves whilst doing back stroke - if you look hard enough you can see them here....

We then walked on up the headland with the 3 dogs on leads at this point - it would only take for an interesting smell and they would be over the side and down the drop!

Then it was a stop in front of the lighthouse for timed group photos and fun with the kiddies

Followed by food of the highest standard - you know the hand bag/picnic variety - a little bit warm but really, really good.

As we relaxed in the sunshine this Royal Navy helicopter flew by with all on board giving us a cheerful wave!
A ropey start to the morning but a fab finish to a lovely day.

Baby Boom

Today started off with brilliant blue skies and the view over the Carn as I opened the bedroom curtains was beautiful.

I had a very uneventful drive to work with the top down on the 5, and a plod along morning (despite the fact I used up a roll of loo paper on my very bunged up nose) and then I had an email from one of my best mates.

She's 6 weeks pregnant and I'm so very excited.

I now have 3 close friends all expecting children between September and the beginning of February.

I shall be Aunty Jo (or AJ I've decided, as that sounds much cooler I think!)

For those of you that are reading this that are the ladies in question - I'll mention no names of course - you know I can't wait to meet the mini you's and am there for you if you need me for anything.

Meanwhile I expect emails of the scan pictures and continuous updates on the morning sickness etc - I live vicariously and all that!

I AM SOOOO EXCITED ......
