Afternoon Tea and Sea

Jamie and Phill are in Cornwall for a visit once more, and having been invited for a lovely supper with them last night, I received a call this morning to see if I wanted to join them for a trip to Trengwainton for afternoon tea.

The only stipulation?  I had to ride ’em’ cowboy once more on the rocking horse…. I feel a theme beginning here LOL

They collected me mid morning, and after a little confab for the best route to drive, Sally Ann and I came up with a plan of action.  The quick way there, the pretty way home!

The biggest order for cream teas you have ever seen, soon followed our arrival at the tea rooms, and we all got stuck in.

Then the ill fated rocking horse incident was required.  Who would have thought that I would start a trend when I did this on our last visit!

The pretty drive home took us up high over Mounts Bay, and afforded us some lovey views of St Michaels Mount, and so, of course, we stopped for some pictures.

The boys dropped me home to see to Fred, but not before making plans to go to the beach and watch them in the water.

The National Surf Life Saving Championships was taking place, so there was not much surf, or beach to make use of, but they still had fun I think.

Farewell

Simon, Vikki and the kiddies are heading home today, and i had promised them a cake.

Having pulled a new recipe from google, I produced a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, sprinkles and white chocolate drops.

It looked good, but not having made it before I was very wary that it would taste OK.

We met everyone, and headed to the beach for a game of boules, and then made our way back to watch Mo Farrah win his race.  The kids got very excited and decided to Usain Bolt him!

A quick walk around the harbour, and some timed shots, before we said our goodbyes until next time.

I think the next few weeks are going to be very quiet without all these visitors.

Roll on Bank Holiday weekend, and the next visit from Jamie and Phill. Can’t wait.

Boogie Board Bonus

Amazingly I didn’t feel to bad from the effects of the plonk from last night, and did my morning shift at work with no problems.

Within a few minutes of getting home, the boys contacted me to say they were in the area.

Time to get the wet suits on!  Both Paul and Mark decided not to go in, and would be the photographers for the day, so Stuart and I suited up and grabbed our boards.

The sun was shining and the waves coming in gently, perfect for a first time boogie boarder.

We met up with Sally-Ann, Simon, Vikki, Ellie, Cameron, Jack and Sara and made our way to the water.

A few minutes later we were laughing all the way on to the sand on the crest of our waves.

It was so warm in the sun that the water felt lovely, and we managed about 2 and a half hours in the water.

Then it was back home for a quick shower, a glass of gin and a change of clothes before heading back for a BBQ that Simon and Vikki had arranged with Sally Ann.

A great day on the beach followed by a barbie. Fantastic!

It was soon time to say goodbye to the boys, who were heading home in the morning.

A hectic couple of days, but such fun!

It’s Beginning To Feel a Lot Like Christmas!

Scrooge finally gave in and allowed me to put up my decorations, including this cute little train I got at the Gardens National Trust shop today.

Charge of the Light Parade!

Another year, another City of Lights parade through Truro.

We arrived in more than enough time to do a little Christmas shopping, and to grab some supper at The William IV, before the parade started at 7.40pm.  A few minutes later than scheduled, but that didn’t stop the crowds gathering in anticipation.

Well done to the organisers, this year had some amazing entries.

and Hens go Cluck Cluck…..

It’s all getting quite exciting!  Liza gets married in October, and tonight is the Hen Party. Don’t read any further if you are of a sensitive nature LOL…

Tracey and I have been putting together hen bags for all those attending, which include Ann Summers magazines with 10% discount vouchers, perfumes, shampoo’s, conditioners, lipsticks, loads of Avon products, love heart sweets with “Liza’s Hen Night, Gwel an Mor, 17 September 2011” on the external label (these are done by a local company with the wording that you request)

There are also party poppers, naughty willie shaped sweet dummies, and some aromatherapy soaps in the shape of, you guessed it, willies!

In Liza’s bag, we also added a blue garter, some honeymoon dice that contain certain suggestions when you roll them, and of course her halo, wand and tiara!

Tracey and I arrived about 45 minutes early in order to place the soap willies on each place setting…… the aroma was so strong we couldn’t put them in the hen bags!

Then as people arrived, we handed them their personalised hen bag.  We had managed to do all of the bags for a total cost of £35.00, so each person only had a tiny amount to pay towards the fun.

The fun soon got underway, and although the rest of the night was pretty normal, as Liza didn’t want any of the hoo ha that goes with hens do’s, we still managed to all have a laugh and ask the chap looking after us all for his trousers, boxers and a kiss!  Of course I had nothing to do with this!

Soon enough the night was over, and I headed back home.  Pauls Mom and step Dad had arrived a few hours ago from Birmingham and, I just had time to have a natter and a catch up before we all headed off to bed.

Such Fun! in the words of a certain lady from ‘Miranda’.  I love that show! LOL

Healeys Cyder Farm

Whilst Jordiegirl and her family are in Cornwall, we have been suggesting some places for them to visit, and Healeys was one of the places we came up with.

I received a text from her whilst I was at work telling me that they were at the Cyder Farm and having a great time eating cream teas and testing the different cyders on offer.

The weather outside of the office window was glorious, and I decided that, if Paul managed to get home at a reasonable hour we would pop over for a look around ourselves.

Having showered the day off, we climbed into Betty Blue and headed up the A30 and onto the Old Road towards Newquay/Penhallow and the Cyder farm.

There are a few areas you can look around and actually watch the cyder being made and there are also various things on sale there including jams and chutneys with cyder in the ingredients.

We had a look at the peacocks, pygmie goats and pigs, and then made friends with the shire horse before heading in for a cream tea!

A Visit From Friends

It’s been a few months since we last saw Kelly, Dylan and Paul, and Oh My Lord, how my little Godson has grown!

He and Fred soon remembered that they were friends, and went charging around the garden with Fred’s teddy bears or Dylan’s Gordon the train and his tenders.

We are now in the questioning stage….. what’s that? why?What’s that? Very funny….. but we are also in the cheeky stage….” ‘ello gorgeous!” So cute!

It was so lovely to be able to catch up with Kel, I really miss not been able to do that unless it’s by email, text or phone.

The next visit will be in June when we are in the Midlands for a week.  Can’t wait!
