Dragons and Roots

We have had a plan for the bottom of our garden for a while now.  Today was to be the beginning of that plan coming to pass.
We have a very rotten young tree, and somehow had to remove it and ensure that the root ball and stump came up and away too.
We have been shocked that the gales have not done the job for us, but either way it’s sayonara sapling.
We checked out what to do on good old internet video how to pages…. you know the one I mean – “Your Pipe” or words to that effect, and got stuck in….
Having felled the main body of the tree, and cut it into smallish pieces and bagged it into the trailer, we dug around the stump, felt around for the main roots and dug them free, then cut through them in order to release it from the ground.
All told it took us about and hour.  Great job done.
Now for some fun……  Falmouth for some lunch on the event square whilst watching the Dragon racing.

What a full and fun day.

Marwood Hill Gardens

Today hit the giddy heights of 34 degrees in the sun, so we headed for whatever shade we could find at Marwood Hill Gardens.

They are a beautiful place to visit, with a large lake full of very inquisitive fish, and various hidden statues…. a lovely place for a picnic and a cuppa.

We had a lovely day, despite the big old owl having her sights set on having Fred for her lunch!

Trelissik Tour

Simon was visiting this weekend.

The five of us decided on a walk around the grounds of  Trelissik with the dogs followed by an afternoon tea in the cafe there.

It was a lovely walk with a wonderful incentive at the end of it!

Tootling ‘round Trengwainton

Another National Trust day today, and this time Sally-Ann and Mike were also able to join us.

The last time we went to these gardens we were a little disappointed as nothing was in bloom.  Today, however was a different matter.  It looked like a completely different place.

The colours came at you from every direction, in the leaves of the trees and the petals of the blooming flowers.

Suddenly Sally-Ann and I got very camera happy!

Half way  around we took the time to sit and look over to wards Mounds Bay, before heading off again.

Marg had been telling me about when Karen (Paul’s sister) was younger and wanted to have a Panda for a pet, and keep him in the bath and feed him on bamboo shoots from the garden….. When we spotted this bamboo we couldn’t resist a  picture especially for her!

Nearing the finish line now…. over the bridge…

past the large tree, which we couldn’t find last time we visited, but which was planted the same year that Mike’s Mum was born…

and then, finally after a very full day of walking, back to the cafe  for coffee and cakes.

There was a lovely little play horse placed near our table just for the kiddies.

Of course I couldn’t resist, only to find I had an audience inside the shop, and I got a bang on the window and cheers from everyone!
