Treasured Memories

We arrived back at home yesterday by 11.30 am, and from then onwards the house proceeded to resemble a Chinese laundry with all of the washing I was managing to get done.
Today however, we had plans to finish the holiday off in style, with Sally-Ann and Mike, by meeting up at Treasure Park for one of their Sunday lunchtime carvery meals.
We had no idea what to expect as carvery meals are a new thing at Treasure Park, but we have to say it was a very enjoyable meal, and the company helped to make the last day of our holiday most enjoyable.
After the meal I went over to the main building and had the jeweller resize my wedding band, eternity ring and trio ring, and clean and polish them all along with my anniversary ring that Paul gave me for our 10th anniversary. It took half and hour and only cost me £30 for the 4 rings. I was thrilled, as it now meant I felt married again, not having been able to wear them for the last few weeks!
The day was finished off with all four of us on the beach with the two dogs for a walk.
What a week! Full of walking and 'events' and friends. It's a shame it all has to stop for work tomorrow!

A Disgruntled Doggy!

Fred is a hairy monster! His legs have lovely westie trousers on them, and his belly has a lovely westie skirt....... unfortunately for Fred, and all his own doing I might add, it is very, very matted.
The reason? you ask. Freds intense dislike of the brush. So much so, he will run and hide even if he hears you lifting it from the shelf.
An so, the result of this brush phobia? Fred has to be shorn like a sheep!
OK, yes, he does look smart, but he is not my little westie without his trousers and skirt, and it is most disconcerting to see all of his 'bits' dangling and wobbling when he walks LOL

His coat will grow back, and in the meantime, we are trying to rid him of his phobia by gently brushing his belly when he rolls over for us, but somehow I think this stubborn little bow-bow will have his own way and will we losing his coat again in the not too distant future!

Before and After....

Right! So this bundle of mud and fur is what we have had to put up with for the past few weeks!

Yes he's a little cutie, and yes he knows to get on the towel after being in the mud patch that is our garden, but he really really smells! Auntie Helen like to clip him with a dirty coat, so he has to stay dirty by hook or by crook!

Hooray! this morning he got his cut and is pulling every little trick to show us he is still the little cutie he has always been LOL

Bless him - little does he know that the bath is calling his name now that the excess coat has gone!
Perhaps tomorrow though, after all, he has had a very exhausting day today!

Hair Raising...

I awoke this morning with the sole purpose in my mind of getting my hair cut!

I do this! Get a thought or idea in my head and then mither myself until I actually get it done!

Off I went into Minehead, having left Paul with instructions to vacuum the van for me, and headed in the general direction of where I thought there may be a salon....

It did not take me long to find one that could fit me in there and then.

Now as most of you have seen, my hair is very thick and curly and takes some drying, so the poor girl was definitely in no need of a work out on her arms by the time she had finished blow drying me, but I have to say she did a grand job.

The ends are now lovely and blunt again, and I cannot wait to try pin curling once more.

Roll on the weekend!

A 21st Century take on a 50's Hairstyle...

Right then..... I did promise the antics of my attempt at doing pin curls to create a 40's/50's pageboy hairstyle....

Well if nothing else this will give you a good laugh!

And so, last night it all began...

Having watched Aya's video on her blog Strawberry Koi, I had some idea as to the principles to follow, and so after parting my hair and sectioning it off I began to curl sections into coils and, using bobby pins, holding each section in place...

the first side went quite well, I found it all rather therapeutic actually, curling away whilst watching the TV, and fending off silly comments and laughter from Paul!

Once both sides had been completed and I had pin curls everywhere, I followed Aya's next tip, cover your hair in a scarf and go to bed like that!

OK - Paul really fell apart at that one!

Anyway it worked, as, after I got up this morning and had my shower, I took of the scarf and discovered it was all still in place and had stayed quite well...

I began to remove the pins one at a time, not expecting much. As you can see my hair has quite a frizzy curl to it anyway, so it's all in the lap of the gods as to what it will look like.

I was amazed to see beautifully defined curls in the place of the pins - and they stayed put amazingly!

It then all started to go horribly wrong once I brushed it out - BAD IDEA - I should have left the curls there I think, and so after all that what does my hair look like.....

Pretty much the same I'm afraid!

Needless to say - This was not an unpleasant task to do, and it was not at all uncomfortable to sleep in, which was a surprise, so I shall definitely do it again, but this time keep the curls....

What do you reckon?

Aya - You are Great!

I have just finished watching Aya at Strawberry Koi, presenting a tutorial on how to do 1940's pin curls.
She makes everything look so easy, and I shall certainly be having a go following her hints and tips.
I shall perhaps give this a go at the weekend. Pictures to follow ..... Maybe!
