A Look Back over my 40th Year

As the last day of my 40th year slowly comes to a close, I have been thinking back over the last 12 months and all the things that I have achieved.
I am truly amazed at how living in Cornwall has transformed both me, and my lifestyle.
I have some amazing friends and work colleagues, that I would do anything to help if they asked, and I also know that these same people would be there for me in a heartbeat, if I were to ask.
I have achieved some firsts this year too - I have taken up a new fitness regime in the form of my pilates classes and I have overcome my fear of the sea and taken up body-boarding.
I've even been asked to be a bridesmaid for the first time ever (I know what you are saying - a soon to be 41 year old married bridesmaid is a little unorthodox, but it's for my wonderful cousin Nathan, and his bride to be Fabiana) I shall be wearing baby pink and travelling in a stretch limo (another first)..... all that to come June 2010!

This is the dress that Fabi is planning on putting me in.....

I have heard in the last week about 2 engagements, both of very good friends from Birmingham, and can't wait to see them soon, and wish them loads of love and happiness.

and so, despite the fact that I shall be 41 tomorrow, I feel blessed, for the life around me. The beautiful countryside, the wonderful friends and my gorgeous husband.

Roll on year 41, throw at me what you will - I'm ready!

  4. Hi Jo

Glad to hear you have had a great year and I hope next year is just as good for you too.

A very Happy Birthday for tomorrow.

You now live in such a lovely part of the country, you can't help but enjoy being there, it must be great.

I think the pink bridesmaid dress is really lovely and I'm sure you will look fantastic in it, you must post some photos for us next year. Nothing wrong with you being a 41 year old married bridesmaid in my opinion, think you will actually be matron of honour - probably an old-fashioned term for a married bridesmaid.

Anyway I didn't marry until I was 32 and my bridesmaids were 31, 30 and 11. I don't think age matters as long as you feel comfortable in the choice of outfit.

Are you going to be the only bridesmaid or is she having others? I'm sure you will enjoy the day.

I was a witness at my sister's first wedding at 17 years of age, then I was chief bridesmaid for a friend when I was 21, then again at 31. At 30 I refused to be a bridesmaid at my sister's second marriage in the register office plus blessing in Church - just in case I was a jinx, didn't want her second marriage failing too - especially as the friend I had been bridesmaid for at 21 also got divorced!!!!! Fortunately my other friend hasn't divorced so maybe I am not a jinx.

You must have heard that old saying 'three times a bridesmaid, never a bride' - not sure if that includes being a witness!!! Anyway I still got married.
