Out with the Old, In with the New

And so it is a very sad day for us both today - our beloved Santa Fe is leaving us for another life with a car dealership.

Can't believe how gutted we are about this, but it had to be done before all of the value in it was lost.

At the moment we hate the media for saying that it is 4x4's that cause environmental problems. Ours was a low group on tax, low emissions and did 40mpg, but unfortunately was tarred with the same brush as the big Range Rovers and Land Rovers, and next year it will be in a really high tax group and just will not be viable to keep on the road.

On the up side, we did find a very reasonable replacement, so it can't all be bad.

So Long Pash!

Well Hi there....... I see you baby, shakin that @**

Another Room Complete

Time for the little bedroom to have it's well earned makeover.
We took up the carpet on Saturday and did re did all of the paint work with new undercoat and gloss.

The chap arrived this afternoon to put the new cream carpet down.

And here is the end result - now the work starts again with putting all of the furniture back in!

Oh No.....!!!!!

Look what I've done - Smashed my laptop screen..... Yep dropped it on the floor - very stupid and typical of the sort of thing I manage to do! Paul has had to hook me up the the old monitor screen for the time being!

Decorating Again

And so I begin again - Gloss work on the small room that will be having the carpet in on Wednesday. I have to admit though I do enjoy painting woodwork, it's very therapeutic, and I actually get the time to listen to some CD's that wouldn't normally manage to fit into my day!

Whooppee

And we have lift off..... the car in Truro was just the job. It has a 1.5 DCi Diesel engine and a really low tax and insurance bracket. Deal done - Paul picks it up next week.
It was freezing cold today and the rain was coming down in rods with winds that were blowing a hooley, but we still managed to do a good test drive, and even I found it nice to drive.
Fred will be impressed with the sun screens in the back windows to protect him from the sunshine when we are driving too and from Blue Anchor.
We've worked it out and we should save loads on the running costs - 60mpg, insurance group 4 (instead of the current 14), and a road tax of £110 instead of £205..... fantastic.
With all we've saved, does this mean I can re-tile the bathroom and get a new vanity unit/sink?

Still searching...

Went to Bodmin this afternoon to have a look at a car with Paul. Thank gawd for none working Friday afternoon for us both! the car was rubbish and in a really bad state. What do people do to their cars, and why is it that ours is the same age as the ones we are looking at and it's immaculate, but the cars for sale are all really ropey and badly looked after. Some people have no respect for their cars! From here we decided that as we are already up country we would drive across to Plymouth to check out another one we remembered seeing on the web. An hour and a half's drive later and a charge on the toll bridge and we find out the car has been sold already. Story of our life....
Never mind one last chance tomorrow on something in Truro and then we are officially giving up and keeping the 4x4, that we love so much.

Bank Holiday Monday

What a day - we spent it trawling the internet and the car showrooms, trying to do the right thing for the environment and swap our car for a low emission, high mpg vehicle for very little money, as our government are trying to instill in us all. Well forget it - they aren't out there unless you are Rockefeller. The rain came down all day - it was freezing and we still have our family car on the driveway instead of the little cheap runaround we hope to change it for. Bah Humbug. Maybe we should just say balls to it all and get another '5'. AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Our Backyard....

This was the sight when Paul took Fred for an afternoon stroll today, and I missed it! I can't believe that we are so lucky as to live in this beautiful county.....
