Today we found a little gem of a hidden gardens. We picked the leaflet up about the Stone Lane Gardens, from the information hut on the caravan site. It was only £5 entry and the dogs were welcome.
When we arrived we had to drive through a farm yard, and thought maybe we were in the wrong place, but no, it was correct.
We parked up and wandered down the lane to the entrance. The gardens were lovely. Everywhere you turned there were sculptures and art work to look at and reflect upon. We spent a very happy couple of hours wandering and taking in everything on show.
Although the gardens were very small, and there were not exactly many plants in bloom, the sculptures are what made the visit worthwhile.
Having eaten our picnic upon our return to the car, we then decided to head on to Exeter Marsh Barton, and the Double Locks Inn and Exeter Canal.
We had a quick coffee at the Double Locks, having parked on their car park, and then had a wander up the canal enjoying the countryside, before making our way back to the car and onward to the caravan site.
A lovely day.
